In this case the towel/cloth will be drawn as though it's hanging from a single point like a hook hanger. You can see a preview of what the drawing stages for it look like in the preview image above.

Start the drawing in pencil and make light lines that you can easily erase in case you make a mistake. You can darken your lines later on with a black pen or marker.

Step 1 – Draw the Center Fold of the Towel

Begin by drawing the central fold of the towel/cloth. Make it wider towards the bottom with a bit of a "bump" near the tip. Leave the top open.

Step 2 – Draw the Side Folds/Top

Next add the two folds on the sides as well as the top part that the towel is hanging by as shown in the example.

You should have a basic outline of the towel's shape once you're done with this step.

Step 3 – Draw the Smaller Folds/Wrinkles

Add a few smaller folds/wrinkles toas shown above. In this case there will just be two one on the upper left of the center fold and one near the bottom middle.

Step 4 – Finish the Line Drawing

Add a stripe running along the bottom of the towel as shown in the example above to make the drawing a little more interesting. Draw it so that it somewhat matches the bottom curves of the folds.

You can leave the stripe out if yo u want a more plain looking towel.

Once done confirm that your drawing looks how you want it to and trace over your lines with a black pen or marker. If you don't have one handy just darken them with the pencil.

Step 5 – Add Color

Colored pencils can be a good option for coloring the towel. In this case it will be yellow and the little stripe will be blue. You can of course use different colors if you prefer or even just leave it white (as towels often are).

Step 6 – Add Shading & Finish the Towel Drawing

You can give the towel just a bit of really simple shading. Add this by slightly darkening the two folds on the sides (drawn in step two). You can do this by lightly going over with with grey or brown.

Once done you should be finished with the towel drawing.

Conclusion

Due to the way a piece of cloth can fold in different ways there are many options for drawing a towel. This tutorial shows a way where it's hanging from a single point such as a small hook hanger.
